VISITORS ARE WELCOME BY APPOINTMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!! ************************************************************************************************************************************************ ABOUT US AT SUNDANCE MEADOWS! Sundance Meadows is a Hobby Farm started in 2001, by me Jaime French. Located in Palermo NY, a small upstate town, only 40 miles North of Syracuse and 50 miles South of Watertown. With helping hands from best friend Melanne Keim, of Weedsport, and her 2 boys Gregory and Steven Daniels, Sundance Meadows, has continued to grow. After divorce, Melanne and her boys, came to live with me to enjoy a taste of country living. They have been in love ever since. Yes the farm is still growing, even though we both work full-time jobs. The Farm name..... I came up with the name Sundance Meadows after my beloved Horse Sundance "Sunny". He lived his last 15 years of his life on the farm, living to be almost 30 years old. Sunny, has been my inspiration. "Sunny's" name speaks for its self. I was only about 7 years old when he became mine, given to me by a neighbor who was moving. He even came with his own saddle(which I still have). Sunny and I became best friends, and was a huge part of me growing up and becoming who I am today. For those of you who know me, I am sure you know how true this is. Sunny was so special he even had a special stall made so he could be with my family and friends during my high school graduation party. Yes he was under the same roof, with tables around him. Now he has crossed the rainbow bridge, but some day I will ride him again! To Sundance: YOUR NAME LIVES ON....AS DOES YOUR SPIRIT! I will always miss you!
The Farms History..... Sundance Meadows was formally known as Whispering Pines Farm which was established in 1987 by my parents Walter & Doris French, as a Christmas tree and beef cattle farm. My brother and I both grew up with the farm a huge part of our lives. However, I became the farm lover. I am now the 5th generation living at the farm location. I am still proudly using one of the original barns built in the 1800's, as well as the home. Although the farm has downsized since the 1st generation the farm is still operating on about 100 acres of wooded terrain, open fields, ponds, streams, and lots of pastures. Lets not forget the animals, both domestic and wild! We have a variety of wild animals that we frequently see, and call the farm home. White tail deer, wild turkey, geese, rabbits, raccoons, and squirrels are the most commonly seen. My Grandparents worked the farm prior to the farm being handed down to my parents in 1977 when the farm was sub-divided and my parents built there dream home, a large rustic log cabin . My grandparents continued living at the original farm location and house... More History.... Augusta Bradshaw and his wife was the first generation of the family to own the farm. At that time it was ran as a dairy farm. Augusta also owned the Mallory, NY hotel and the Little France, NY hotel. They had two sons Harold and Orville. Orville Bradshaw and his wife Beatrice Rill became the second generation to operate as a dairy farm. Orville was also a cheese maker. In 1951 at the age of 32 there only son George "red" O. Bradshaw and wife Illa M. Craner took over and operated it to raise Hereford beef cattle. They had three daughters, Rosalie(Stevens), Doris (French), and Jeanette Bradshaw. During this time both George and Illa where full-time factory workers. George and Illa raised there 3 girls here and continued to live here until they both died in the late 1990's. My brother Patrick J. French and I grew up working the farm not only when my grandparents owned it, but then when my parents took over until about 1990. Eleven years later the barn barn is filled again. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** In Memory of my beloved brother ...Patrick J. French "PJ". On August 17, 2002 after his 10 year highschool class reunion, he was driving home...but never made it. You are so deeply Missed! We love you!
